Community means service

to Ronald Benjamin who has spent the past 20 years connecting with communities in Cambridge.

Ronald Benjamin is a Candidate for Cambridge City Council who wants to bring new energy and ideas to the Council in order to help Cambridge become more of a connected community. Ronald intends to voice his support of a city community where residents and stakeholders are heard and connections are based on shared values, not on background or neighborhood.

Ronald is proud to call the “People’s Republic of Cambridge,” his home for nearly 18 years. His “calling” to run for city council stems from having seen Cambridge’s residents and small business’ forced out of the community due to high rent costs and inaccessibility to affordable housing / properties. Over the years he has come to feel the extraordinary shift in Cambridge’s city dynamics in that it has been overshadowed by a growing surplus of big businesses, corporations, chain stores and large scale commercial and residential developments. Ronald believes it’s time for the community to become more inclusive and deepen Cambridge’s connections towards resolving these issues.

A proud Haitian-American who grew up in Long Island, New York; Ronald’s story of arriving to Cambridge started when he was accepted at Harvard University’s Extension School. The events that lead to his campaign run can be attributed to his business and personal connections to underserved communities in Cambridge. His business brings him in close contact with the elderly residents of Cambridge, where he listens to their concerns and problems. His church has seen a drop in membership because people have had to leave Cambridge to afford housing. His connection to other underserved communities has shown him the concerns and fears of these often unseen communities of Cambridge.… [Worked at/supported… insert your most compelling experiences and wins].
